7th International Design Congress
October 30-31 and November 1, 2017
The Design Department of the Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México invites the academic, professional and practicing community, related in any way to the design, to participate in the 7th edition of the MX Design Conference. On this occasion, the international conference aims to explore and discuss possible scenarios that the future holds for the design, both those ideals and desirable (utopian), as those feared and disadvantages (dystopian).
Faced with the worsening of the social crises enunciated since the last century, the design has been transformed into a set of approaches that are much more diverse than their artistic, artisan and industrial origins. However, the facts show that issues such as social inequality, crises of governance, risks to physical and mental health, food insecurity, climate change, armed conflicts or even terrorism; they overshadow the future of civilization as we know it, of humanity, or of life itself on the planet.
Design, not only as design professions, but as a constant practice in multiple levels and situations, has been an active part in this situation; but also, has generated proposals in which the hope persists that we are able to modify these pressing realities. Thus, we believe that now faces the need for profound and substantial changes in their practice, in their understanding as an academic discipline, in education for different levels, or in its characterization as a profession, among many others. Therefore, we invite professionals and academics from different areas, practitioners with diverse experiences, storytellers framed in the future, to answer these questions:
